Sometimes you know you were meant to be in a certain place at a certain time…
That’s how Dave Pisarchik felt when he visited a friend in Myrtle Beach about a year and a half ago.
The Johnstown, Pennsylvania native had made the trip south to catch up with a friend who had recently purchased a vacation home in the area. He fell in love with Myrtle Beach, the coastline, and the culture.
“I’d been to Myrtle Beach maybe 30 years ago, but I was really excited to go back. I discovered that the town is homey and charming,” he says, “I loved that it felt welcoming and had something for everyone.”
It didn’t take long for Dave to look into buying his own vacation home in the area and since his friend described the buying process as easy and fun, Dave contacted Dreamlife Realty, with the hope that they could help him find the perfect retreat.
“I can’t say enough nice things about Dreamlife Realty,” Dave says. “They really listened to me and I felt like they cared about finding me a property that fit the needs and wants I had. The whole process was great.”
Dave looked at quite a few condos before deciding on a unit in Barefoot Resort.
“It was perfect for me,” he says, “warm and welcoming…a home. I loved the community too. I’m only a mile and a half from the beach, and can be there in five minutes. The community is in a really pretty setting. It really feels like home here.”
Something For Everyone
Dave, an avid golfer, enjoys all the choices Myrtle beach offers.
“There is truly a golf course for everyone,” he says. “Every price range, every skill level. My favorite course so far is the Witch course. It’s really pretty…really woodsy, you’ll even see alligators.”
Dave has discovered one of the biggest benefits to taking the leap into living the ‘dream life’; that it often helps propel friends and family to make that choice as well. In fact, for Dave, many years of family gatherings are in his future.
“My sister and cousin recently bought their own places down here too,” he says. “We anticipate a lot of family gatherings down the road.
Looking Into the Future…
Dave’s son, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, has been able to see pictures of the family’s new retreat and is excited to join them for a beach trip when his tour is finished. Dave was able to make his son a part of the process by sending him updates and photos as they went through the buying process.
“I hope to have grandkids down here someday,” Dave says. “Family memories will definitely be made here.”
For Dave, taking the leap to living the dream life was an easy one. Myrtle Beach is a moderate, half day drive from Pennsylvania, and still allows him to take advantage of a warmer climate, as well as the beach lifestyle. He and his family are able to enjoy their beach home five to six times a year. Eventually, he’d like to live in the area full time during retirement. As a side bonus, he’s been able to rent his second home out when he isn’t using it.
“There are some great property management companies in the area,” he says, “It’s been great. It’s been making my payments for me.”
