A new oceanfront waterpark is now ready for visitors in the Myrtle Beach area. The Crown Reef resort, which has been undergoing a $7.5 million dollar renovation since last fall, boasts a brand new waterpark with two four story enclosed waterslides. The park boasts the world’s first hotel ‘explosion’ slide.
The waterpark caters to all ages and includes smaller slides for young children, a submarine play area, sun deck and bucket dumps.
The Crown Reef resort, constructed 20 years ago, has been undergoing one of the largest resort renovations in the Myrtle Beach area. After five years of updates and remodeling the water park completes the property’s renovation.
The new waterslides are intended to cater to thrill seekers and those desiring the ‘full’ water park experience. The Explosion is a two person slide that features numerous left to right turns in a completely enclosed fume. The tight radius of the turns allows riders to quickly change direction and speed which adds a whole new dimension to the water slide experience.
The Twister slide is a one person body-style slide. 800 gallons of water are pumped down the slide per minute. The Kidz Twister slide is smaller, at only eight feet tall and twenty feet long. All the slides will have the capbability to be enclosed during the cooler months, and are open aired during the hot summer season.
The Crown Reef resort also features a new ‘Town Center” which offers dining, live music and entertainment as well a fantastic view of the Atlantic ocean.
