Cherry Grove
When you think of Myrtle Beach, a busy, crowded vacation hot spot comes to mind with lots of traffic and hotels lining the “strip.” But, at the north end of the illustrious Grand Strand lies the neighborhood of Cherry Grove Beach, more commonly referred to as Cherry Grove. This is a wonderful seaside community established back in the 1950s that still has the same quaint feeling of an idyllic beach town. Cherry Grove offers the best of a classic, sleepy beach town with a close-knit feeling with the ability to have the action and excitement of Myrtle Beach close by. Whether full time or only part of the year, it is an ideal place to live and vacation for those who want a relaxing and simpler lifestyle.
Attractions in Cherry Grove
Cherry Grove has a lot to do for those who live and spend time here. Of course, the main attraction of Cherry Grove is its phenomenal beach. It is wide, plentiful and the perfect spot for kids to play or to simply enjoy a sunny day with a good book.
Second to the beach is probably the Cherry Grove Pier. It is common on most any day to see seasoned and novice anglers casting their lines in hopes of reeling in dinner that night (and they usually do) as it is one of the most popular fishing spots along the South Carolina coastline. Built in the 1950s, the pier has been damaged and rebuilt over the years most recently following Hurricanes Hugo (1989) and Floyd (1999).
The Heritage Shores Nature Preserve is another attraction in Cherry Grove that brings lots of residents to its mile-long boardwalk to walk and run (no bikes please) through beautiful salt-water marshes. This is the best place to take a morning stroll and watch everything come alive for the day not to mention enjoy lunch at one of the picnic shelters overlooking the water.
As for shopping and acquiring normal, everyday conveniences, Boulineau’s is a local shopping center that has it all. From groceries at the IGA to the hardware store to the carwash, everything can be accomplished there. It takes up four city blocks and caters to every kind of shopper even the tourists wanting to take back mementoes from their vacation.
And, of course, the excitement and attractions of Myrtle Beach are a short drive away when you want a livelier atmosphere.
Cherry Grove Real Estate
Cherry Grove has a strong real estate market filled with a mix of condominium properties as well as townhouses and single family homes. One of the best attributes of Cherry Grove is the number of waterways that meander throughout the community. Saltwater channels make it possible for residential properties, Channel Houses, to be along the waterfront while at the same time only a few blocks from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
A Hidden Treasure
Cherry Grove is an unexpected little hidden treasure along the Grand Strand. It is easy to see why so many move here and stay here.
