Myrtle Beach is known for having an outstanding selection of restaurants with world class dining. However, sometimes it’s fun to pack a picnic basket, a blanket and stake out your own little corner of the world. Myrtle Beach is truly rife with beautiful picnic locations. You can’t go wrong no matter where you spread that checkered blanket. It was hard to narrow down our favorites, but this list contains some of the best picnic spots in Myrtle Beach.
1. Myrtle Beach State Park
Situated along the Grand Strand coastline, Myrtle Beach State Park is cushioned against a stretch of beautiful oceanfront forest. The state park is a quiet and peaceful escape from more populated beach areas in the tourist areas. There are wonderful picnic spots nestled among the trees here, as well as a nature trail and of course, stunning ocean views. Check out their website for more information.
2. Hurl Rock Park
Hurl Rock Park is located on Ocean Boulevard at 20th Ave. S. In terms of perfect picnic locations, it just doesn’t get any better than this. Locals know that some of the best sunsets along the Grand Strand can be seen from Hurl Rock. Hurl Rock is a great location for both day and evening picnics as the Palmetto trees provide shade from the hot sun. Don’t forget to stroll down the sandy paths that lead to a beautiful stretch of beach. Once you’ve experienced a picnic in Hurl Rock, you’ll know why it’s one of the best picnic areas in Myrtle Beach!
3. Withers Swash Park
Withers Swash Park is 10+ acre preserve with lots of foliage and great scenery. You’ll find a playground, fishing pier, walking trails, and of course, a picnic shelter. A variety of birds and animals roam the park and the grounds really are beautiful. Withers Swash park is located just off of Third Ave. S.
4. Grand Park
Grand Park is located across from The Market Common. Grand Park offers picnic shelters, playgrounds, sports fields and open spaces for relaxing. There are even a few ponds! The walking paths in Grand Park are very nice, and since it’s so close to The Market Common, you can easily stroll to shopping and entertainment areas. Make a day of it and really take in the surrounding scenery.
5. The Beach
Of course, nothing beats a picnic on the beach. We aren’t listing a specific location here because really, you can’t go wrong in any place along the Grand Strand. Grab a bottle of wine a blanket and enjoy the beautiful sunset from the soft warm sand. You haven’t truly experienced the majesty of our coastline until you have experienced a beach picnic at sunset!
